No weight loss yet, though I've been on the 1400-a-day plan for four days now. Hopefully I'll see some progress as the weekend progresses...if I don't go wild with the food, that is. Mark's coming in tonight and my grandmother is staying with my aunt for the next 7 days, so there will be lots of food to be had by all. Not good.
And this morning I had 2 breakfast tacos from Taco Cabana...damn, those things are good, but they are small, so they really probably weren't much more caloric than my usual breakfast. I did manage to skip the monthly cake-and-ice-cream office party this morning, so that's a plus. Lunch will probably be something from Wendy's, maybe a salad. Has anyone else seen those commercials where the guy is eating a salad and baked potato for lunch while everyone else is having canned ravioli or diet bars? The part that gets me is where they say, "You can get a salad and a plain baked potato for under 8 grams of fat!" Or something like that. I don't know anyone who would enjoy eating a plain, dry baked potato. At least put a little butter or some salsa on it.
Yesterday I was feeling a little apprehensive about my first night alone (without my dear husband), so my aunt invited me over for dinner. When I got back, around 9:30 p.m., I turned the key in the lock, dreading the emptiness - especially since my sister Steph had been visiting for the past three days and she was gone too and the apartment had gone from crazy busy to practically dead. But my dread didn't last for long...the first thing I saw when I walked in was a large pool of red liquid near the refrigerator.
I immediately imagined the worst. I thought maybe one of the cats had hurt himself and was bleeding to death somewhere. But a quick check around the house confirmed that both Dude and Oscar were fine. I then thought maybe an intruder had cut himself trying to get in or something, but no glass was broken anywhere and nothing seemed to be disturbed.
The liquid almost looked like it was coming from underneath the fridge, so I opened the doors and carefully inspected it. It was running down one side of the refrigerator and spilling into the doorjambs, but I couldn't make out where it originated. Then I looked up to the top of the fridge...and saw the horrible evidence.
I had left a box of Popsicles on top of the refrigerator.
I bought a lot of frozen meals yesterday and I must have set them up there, and forgot to put them back in the freezer. Way to go, Jen.
In other news, my diet is back on track, despite the steak and key lime pie from last night. Like I said, I bought nine Lean Cuisines/Smart Ones/Healthy Choices and I'm having them for lunch and dinner every night this week, except Friday, because Mark will be home and I'll try to fix one of his favorite dishes. Breakfast is a Special K cereal bar and a cup of fat-free Yoplait yogurt. I also bought some fruit to accompany lunch and vegetables to make side dishes with dinner - I know that most of the premade meals don't have adequate nutrition, so I'll need to make that up somehow. I'm also going to try drinking more water to make up for the excessive sodium in those entrees.
With Mark gone I can also devote more time to exercise, so I'm going to try for 50 minutes of cardio every day this week, except for today - I was helping Mark move in this weekend and didn't work out, so I need to ease myself back into it.
