My left thigh hurts really bad today. I believe it's partially due to lugging my surprisingly heavy laptop all over creation earlier this week. Not only did I have to take it from my office to my hotel, I had to drag it upstairs to my apartment when I got back because I was too lazy to take it upstairs to my office upon my return. So, of course, I had to take it back downstairs later and then upstairs again to my office.
But my company is moving this week. And they've decreed that everyone with a laptop must take it home with them over the weekend, lest it get ruined by those movers. So that's another few trips with this damn thing.
I guess I should be grateful. I'm actually doing better than I was last night. Yesterday, around lunchtime, I got this odd pain on the top of my right foot that lasted until this morning. It hurt to walk, it hurt to stand, it hurt to put any pressure whatsoever on it. But it's doing OK today. I'm wearing comfy Birkenstocks and that's a relief. I think the pain was due to some particularly horrendous kitten heels I wore while out of town Tuesday.
So the point of all this is, these pains make it very hard to work out. And it's especially bad because I haven't worked out since Sunday. Monday I was on the road going to Denton and I was exhausted by the time I got to my hotel, which didn't have an exercise room anyway. Tuesday I was exhausted driving back home. Wednesday was Mark's birthday, and I had a particularly taxing day at work, after which I had to visit Target and Central Market. And I had to make cookies for the birthday boy like I promised. So that left no time for working out. Today, though, I really hope I can go to my regular 8:30 p.m. yoga class.
Back from the business trip and I'm drained. I got about 7 hours of sleep last night but I'm still tired. All that driving really takes it out of you. Especially since my lovely husband refused to help with the driving. "It's a company car," he said of the big-ass Mercury Grand Marquis we were driving. "I don't think it's a good idea." So I drove the whole four hours there and four hours back.
We stayed in a pretty nice hotel, and even managed to get high-speed Internet access in our room. We went out to eat at one of the few restaurants the small town offered, and then unceremoniously flopped into bed. Then I got up the next morning, had my meeting, and we were home by 5 p.m. I have no idea why I'm writing this. I guess it's blogging for blogging's sake.
My company is moving into a new building this weekend. So we're in the midst of Packing Mania and I fear that someone will come in and put my computer in one of those regulation red-and-gray moving crates any minute now. So I better go.
I have to go out of town today for business. It's just for one day, but I am totally not looking forward to it. Business travel sucks, especially when you're going to a tiny town in the DFW area...not close enough to enjoy the good restaurants and shopping in the big city, though. It also means hell for my diet, since I usually end up eating out at some godawful high-calorie restaurant. And there's no fitness center at the hotel. This blows.
On a lighter note, I almost bought a foot care kit from Burt's Bees for $6 (total of $11 with the shipping, but it was half price! Come on!). Gotta save that dough.
