I really have no excuse for not writing yesterday, other than the fact that I was damn tired and slightly busy at work.
Mark's grandmother has been buried. We didn't go home for the funeral. Come to find out, his grandfather had really wanted him there, and offered to pay for a plane ticket home. I wonder if he still would have wanted to once he found out just how expensive a last-minute fare would be. We're talking upwards of $900 here. We sure as hell weren't going to pay it, and we didn't want to drive all night and arrive in Alabama at 3 a.m. So we stayed home. I think everyone understands.
Working out has been going well. Yesterday I did 45 minutes of cardio instead of my usual 35 to 40. I usually try to do yoga Monday nights, but I decided that I just couldn't handle the yoga instructor that night. He's kind of annoying, trying to be Mr. Yoga Guy, and he's started giving us little 5-minute lectures on the body's different chakras, which I hate. I'm taking tonight off because after 2 days in a row of running, I start to get that uncomfortable, painful feeling in my knees and ankles. A day of rest really restores me.
I'm trying to eat better these days, because I've come to the sad realization that exercise alone just isn't going to cut it. I'm trying to substitute fruits and veggies for some of the bread and junk I've been eating. We'll see if it works.
